Phase two of our Porsche Classic Restoration 2025 project has been completed — and this chapter was all about getting down to the bones.

After enduring years of daily driving and two Alcan 5000 rallies through some of North America’s toughest terrain, the E1 Cayenne affectionately known as “The Buggy” passed its initial inspection. Despite the wear and tear, this purpose-driven SUV showed it still had a solid foundation worthy of a full mechanical and structural overhaul.

In this stage, our Porsche technicians stripped the interior to prepare the chassis for its upcoming roll cage. Seats, panels, carpets, electronics — everything came out to expose what time, rally miles, and hard use had done to this Cayenne beneath the surface. The goal: ensure nothing interferes with safety or performance as we move into the next phase.

To validate the work, Vincent Poon from the gear shop stopped by to review our progress and inspect mounting points and clearances before the cage fabrication begins. His feedback ensures the vehicle remains on course for both rally readiness and restoration authenticity.
