The Porsche 911. It is something that has been the pedigree of success in so many aspects. It could be the success of ownership, the success of design, the success of being an engineering marvel and so much more. Something that truly makes the 911 iconic is where it comes from, its heritage. The 911 Heritage Design models extend an invitation to the past that established the foundation. Incorporating modern-day elements allows us to relive the past with the comfort of today. Each Heritage Designed car from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur is handcrafted in Porsche's birthplace of Stuttgart, Germany. Every heritage model is from a certain era in history, ranging from the 1950s to 1980s.
This 2021 Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Edition (992.1) is number 234 of 992 limited production units, with the 992 representing the model inspiration of the 911 generation. Being the Heritage Edition, it draws its inspiration from the 1950s to the early 1960s, resulting in key highlighted features on both the interior and exterior. This 911 has a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged boxer flat-six engine and produces 443hp. With an exciting 0 - 100 km/h of 4.4 seconds and equipped with a 7-speed manual transmission complemented by the Sport Chrono Package, this 911 looks as impressive as it drives.
The Targa model itself is named after the Targa Florio, in Sicily, Italy, representing the most challenging long-distance race of its time. Porsche reaped success at this race when they first entered the event in 1956 and won in a Porsche 550 A Spyder. From this day forward, the Targa model gained the iconic name adorned on the recognizable silver roll-over bar. As the Targa was developed to meet safety standards, this unique design made the model stand out in a class of its own. It is why still to this day, the Targa represents this design while featuring a fully automatic opening and closing fabric top.
Upon first appearance of the Targa 4S Heritage Edition, you'll notice the specially introduced Cherry Metallic paint, blending with the uniqueness of the Heritage Design leather interior in Bordeaux Red and Atacama Beige. The door panels as well as the seats are upholstered with corduroy, a linkage that connects back to the legendary Porsche 356. The lollipop design featured on the sides of the car with the ordered start number of 88 by the previous owner shares this resemblance with the 1951 Porsche 356 SL Gmünd Coupe, which is iconic for representing Porsche’s official debut into the world of international motorsports. The 356 SL Gmünd Coupe went on to complete the 1951 24 Hours of Le Mans and won its class, making it a perfect role model for the Heritage Edition.
The Targa displays its Heritage Design badge on the radiator grille. This badge was given to Porsche 356 owners once 100,000 kilometers were achieved. Furthermore, the Heritage Edition adorns gold lettering located on the Targa bar, the badge on the dashboard trim and the rear fascia of the Porsche. The 911 also has the original 1963 Porsche crest on the Sport steering wheel, hood, matching paint vehicle key and on the hubcaps of the Carrera Exclusive Design wheels, a modern interpretation of the 1967 Fuchs wheels. These were the first forged wheels on a production car, initially placed on the 1967 911S.
